EDF: Torness' Footprint
EDF Torness is one of two operating nuclear power stations in Scotland and has produced electricity to power all of Scotland's 2.5million homes for more than 28 years. It is one of only four Scottish sites to hold the Biodiversity Benchmark with the site home to a range of species such as otters, brown hares, bats and common toads. Peregrine falcons have nested on the station roof for the past 22 years, rearing more than 40 chicks in that time, EDF staff are able to observe their activities via a webcam near the nests.
